Susannah Gross, a farmer in Washington, when experimenting on ways to use waste from cannabis plants discovered it fattens pigs.
With the state about to embark on a legal market for recreational marijuana, the cannabis growers have been wondering what to do with the wastes until the discovery.
Susannah Gross, who owns a five-acre farm north of Seattle, is part of a group experimenting with turning weed waste into pig food.
Four pigs food was supplemented with the waste, in the last four months of their lives ended up 20 to 30 pounds heavier than the half-dozen other pigs from the same litter.
